Panelists:
Karen Ip is a Senior Consultant, Corporate, at Beijing Representative
Office, Herbert Smith. Karen has extensive experience in advising clients doing
business in China and Hong Kong, including the establishment and operation of
representative offices, wholly foreign-owned enterprises and joint ventures in
China. She is principally involved in private equity investment projects, M&A
transactions and greenfield investments in manufacturing, distribution and
infrastructure projects in China and advising on regulatory issues in China and
Hong Kong. Karen is admitted as a solicitor in both Hong Kong and the UK and
received a PRC law certificate from the People's University of China in 1994.
Before joining the firm in 1996, she practised in the China law department of a
major international law firm.
David Nagy is a member of Russell Reynolds' Industrial Sector, based in
Shanghai. Mr. Nagy has more than five years of executive search experience.
Previously, he worked with a Toronto-HQ'd manufacturering Company in Longyou,
Zhejiang. As Manager of Administration, he undertook wide-ranging responsibilities
in finance, business development, MIS and sales and marketing. Mr. Nagy has worked
with the Canadian Business Forum in Shanghai and the Canada China Business Council
for six years, serving on the Executive Committee. Mr. Nagy received his B.A. in
East Asian studies from McGill University in Montreal. He attended a graduate
management course in Asia Pacific Management at Capilano College in Vancouver.
Stephen Barrow is a Principal of Hewitt Associates and leads the Hewitt
Leadership proposition across Asia. He joined the firm in June 2006, prior to
which he held global HR leadership positions within the Financial Services sector.
Prior to this, his extensive consultancy and academic career included working with
sales and services, high-tech, manufacturing, retail, FMCG, utilities, education
and social service organisations. Stephen's international experience includes
extensive work experience across Australasia, Asia, the Middle East, South Africa,
Europe, North and South America. He has lived and worked in the UK, Dubai and Hong
Kong. Stephen joined Hewitt from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group where he was
Group Head of Learning and Organisational Effectiveness. Previously at HSBC he
held a number of senior leadership positions, most notably as Global Head of People
Strategy and Resourcing based in London, and during his time in Asia, establishing
and leading the Organisational and HR Development and Consultancy proposition
across the Region. Stephen holds an MSc in Organisational Psychology and a BSc
(Hons) in Management Science.
