Social innovation is how cities, national governments and businesses solve
compelling challenges facing the society ¨C such as urban growth, traffic
congestion, an aging population, chronic disease and unemployment ¨C by designing
and developing new and more effective approaches.
Social innovation has in the past played a key role in economic growth and the
spread of technologies like the car. It is likely to be even more important to
growth in the 21st century as societies cope with the challenges of ageing and in
an era when health will be the worldĄŻs largest industry requiring government and
non government co-operation.
The British Council in partnership with the UK's Young Foundation, China Centre for
Comparative Politics and Economics (CCCPE) is developing a three year work
programme in China in the field of social innovation. The aim of the programme is
to share learning between the UK and China on how to advance social innovation to
address pressing social challenges in fields such as health, education and ageing.
Come and join us to this month's special Management Discussion Forum at the British
Council to learn more about Social Innovation and the upcoming program between the
British Council and its Chinese counterparts.
